Reverend Andrew Joseph Kennedy, a priest of the Diocese of Birmingham, passed away at the age of 81. He was born in Tipperary Ireland to Andrew and Christina Kennedy. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary, and his brothers John and Hugh. He is survived by his sister Joan Fogarty, his brother Liam (Nora), and many nieces and nephews. Upon graduating from St Patrick’s Seminary in Maynooth, Fr Kennedy was ordained to the priesthood in June of 1963. He served in several parishes in Dublin, Limerick, and Cashel and would later minister in the field of marriage and family in both England and Ireland. In 1989, he came to the Diocese of Birmingham to serve the people of northern Alabama as an associate pastor at St Paul’s Cathedral in Birmingham and in 1993 Fr Kennedy was assigned as pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Huffman where he labored as a faithful and beloved priest for nearly 24 years.
