Andrew John Caramanica age 68 of Roswell, NM passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022. “My brother, you save a place for me with our Lord God. I will always keep you in my heart, Love, your sister Frances.” Andy’s family knew him as “Drew”, that was his nickname.
ON September 1st, 1953, Andrew was born to Andrew R. and Francis Carmanica in Brooklyn, New York. Andrew graduated from Centereach High School in Centereach Long Island, NY. in June of 1971. The family moved from Long Island, NY in Jun of 1971 to Roswell, NM.
Andrew started work at the age of 16 years and worked up until a year or less before he passed. Andrew was a veteran; he was in the Navy at the end of the Vietnam War. He worked in food service jobs some of his jobs here in Roswell were at Pasta Café, Holsum Bakery and his last place of employment was at Cowboy Café. Andrew had a very strong work ethic.
Andrew had some longtime friends throughout Roswell. He enjoyed to Christs Church with his very kind friend Ron Letgo and wife, Mary, they were both very dear to Andrew for many years. Also, his friend Billy Ray and his wife Debbie from Billy Ray’s restaurant. Andrew enjoyed his friendship with Martin, owner of Martin’s Capitol Café. He loved going out and enjoying a meal at his favorite restaurants. Andrew also loved watching sports, his favorite sport was Hockey, Baseball and Football.
Andy had many nieces and nephews. His love of his life, Deanna Caramanica precedes him in death, they never had any children of their own, Deanna was very special to him.
Andrew was a very kind, caring and humble person that loved his family dearly and was very strong with God.
Those left to cherish Andrew’s memory are his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who he loved very much; William, Eric, Elizabeth, Alex, Jodi, Paul, Eric, Penelope, William, Joseph, Sabrina, Sophia, Mia, Payton, Joshua, Raiden, Brean, and her baby brother Bentley Paul.
Andrew also will be greatly remembered by his siblings, Margaret Puotinen of North Carolina; Julia Barboza and husband Bill of North Carolina; Gerald Caramanica of Nurnberg, Germany; Frances Hairston and Todd Hairston of Roswell, NM.
Andrew is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gerardo and Michelina Caramanica, John Buttler and Cecilia. His father, Andrew R. Caramanica and mother, Frances C. Caramanicna, also his brother, John T. Caramanica.
Andrew’s family would like to thank Ron Letgo and his wife Mary for everything they have done for the family, and our brother Andrew. Also, thank you to all of his siblings in this trying and very sad time, to all the team at ENMMC that for weeks, cared, kept Andrew comfortable and safe. Also thank you to Lonnie at Christ Church for his prayers.
