Andrew Gombos, 88, of Troy, Ill., born April 29, 1925, in Worden, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Liberty Village of Maryville, Ill.
Andrew was a life member of Washington Park VFW Post #6372. He was always proud of serving his country in the United States Navy during WW II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith E., nee Kasson, Gombos; a son, Andrew A. Gombos; his parents, Frank and Margaret Gombos; brothers, Joe, Bert, Frank Jr., Louie, and John Gombos; and sister, Margaret Gombos.
Surviving is his children, Larry A. (Hai) Gombos of Parker, Colo., Bert (Jeanette) Gombos of Pocahontas, Ill., Frank (Rose) Gombos of Bunker Hill, Ill., Margaret Gombos of Albuquerque, N.M., and Andrea (Glen) Gutjahr of Collinsville, Ill.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, Willie (Ruth) Gombos.
