Andrej Cavarkapa, 30, of Storrs, CT passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017.  He was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Hercegovina on January 25, 1987, the son of Branko and Aleksandra Cavarkapa.  Andrej was four years old when his family moved to the United States. He graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with BA in Biology and biochemistry and MA in Education in 2012. Andrej always strived to help people and to make a difference in their lives and this drive led him to become a Science teacher at RHAM high school.  Andrej was passionate about his job and making physics and chemistry accessible to all students.  He had many passions such as art, basketball, winter sports, music and many, many more.

Andrej is survived by his parents, Aleksandra and Branko (Storrs); his brother, Marko and sister in law Nikolina (Switzerland); his aunt Branka and uncle Ozren (New Zealand); uncle, Tomislav (Croatia); cousin, Vuk (New Zealand) and cousins Darko and Darija (Croatia) as well as many other families including Sandor, Kukic, Popadic, Hotic, Celik whom he all loved. He is also survived by his girlfriend Hannah of Chester, best friend Brandon of San Diego, his roommate Joseph of West Hartford and an endless number of other close friends, students, and colleagues.
