“TOGETHER AGAIN”

Andre Hakim was one of four sons born to Josephine and Edmond Hakim in Cairo, Egypt in 1932. He attended the University of Cairo and followed his lifelong passion at the School of Architecture. Andre would often tell his story of driving his most prized Vespa through the busy streets of Cairo on his way to University. After receiving his architectural degree, Andre worked on numerous projects in Egypt including the Suez Canal. Cairo is also where he met the love of his life, Ino (Callona) Hakim. The memories told by Andre of he and Ino dressing in high fashion, dining and dancing by the pyramids, and honeymooning on the Nile were told with such passion that one could be transported in time.

In 1967, Andre and Ino along with their two young sons decided to join their family already residing in the United States. Andre was employed by the Akron Zoning Department then as an architect at Firestone Tire and Rubber. He had an eye for perfection in structures and built beautiful residential properties in the Akron/Fairlawn area. Andre was by his wife’s side as Ino followed her passion for retail fashion and opened Ino’s Fashions in Fairlawn Plaza in 1975. Andre never retired from business or even architecture; he was still at his desk, taking care of business right up until his heart said no more.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine and Edmond; his loving wife, Ino Hakim; and his brothers, Samir and George. Andre leaves behind two sons, Karim (Monica) and Henri (Stephanie), along with his brother Roger. He also leaves his beloved grandsons, Andre, Ayden, Christian, Alexander, and Ashton as well as many nieces and nephews.
