Anastasios Kanaris, 89, of Northford, passed away Nov. 3, 2015. He was the husband of the late Mary Yunan. Mr. Kanaris was born in Jerusalem on April 26, 1926, son of the late Michael and Theodora Kivloglou Chnaroyanaki. Mr. Kanaris worked for Barclays Bank and the British Bank of the Middle East in the cities of Jerusalem, Amman, Tripoli and London. He spoke seven languages. He is survived by his daughter, Theodora (John) Sarris of Northford, with whom he resided; two sons, Nicolas Kanaris of Stamford and Elias Kanaris of Auckland, New Zealand; two brothers, George Chnaroyanakis and Constantine Kanaris, both of Athens, Greece; nine grandchildren, Nikie Sarris-Esquivel of North Carolina, Alexander Sarris of Wallingford, Gabriella, Madeleine, Brianna and Nicholas Kanaris of New Zealand and Anastas, Demetri and Evangeline Kanaris, all of Stamford; two great grandchildren, Landon and Layna Sarris of Wallingford. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Simirioti.
