Anastasia Mackewich, 90
Anastasia Mackewich, 90, passed away Monday February 11, 2008 in Alamogordo. She was born January 23, 1918 in Ontario, Canada to Andri and Anna Zarkis who immigrated from Lithuania in the early 1900’s, eventually settling in Detroit, Michigan. She married Frank Mackewich Sr. in 1935 in the Detroit area where they lived and raised their family for many years. She moved to Alamogordo in 1987 to be closer to her grandchildren. She was manager of the women’s clothing department at Hudsons’ Department store in Detroit, Michigan retiring in the 1980’s. She had a great love for her pet dogs and always took great care for them. She is survived by her sister Marion Ahern of Michigan, daughter in-law Wilma Novotny and her husband John. Grandson Frank Mackewich Jr. and his wife Lorraine, granddaughter Linda Perkins and her husband John, grandson Eugene Mackewich, granddaughter Diana Montalvo and her husband Rene, and grandson Michael Mackewich. Great grandchildren; Adam Mackewich, Amanda Sunderland, Amy Perkins, Melanie Dehler, Stephanie Wendl, Stephen Montalvo, Jennifer and Laura Mackewich.
