Amy Thompson, 96, of Bloomington, died on Thursday at Bloomington Hospital. Amy was born on July 4, 1913 in Monroe County to John Francis and Sarah (Sellars) Wampler. She was a homemaker and had also worked for several years in the Women’s Department at Schmalz’s Department Store.

She was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Petry (Tom) and Donna Thompson all of Bloomington and son Phil Thompson (Helen) also of Bloomington. Three grandchildren Brad Thompson, Natalie Cochren and Amy Lanham also survive as well as 7 great grandchildren.

Amy is also survived by a niece Betty Ely who she raised from the age of two and 5 great nieces and nephews, Bill Young, Kevin Young, Vickie Young, Beth Young and Karla Young. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Thompson and her nine siblings, Ross, Glen, Carl, John, Ray, Flossie, Kate, Josephine and Bonnie.
