Amila Indika Jayakody-Arachchige went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 5, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas.
Amila was born in Sri Lanka, in 1978, to his loving father, Sirimalhami Jayakody Arachchige, and mother, Pemalatha Arachchillage , as the oldest of 3 children. His parents named him Amila, meaning priceless in Sinhalese. In Sri Lanka, he began his work with the Asiana Education Development. Through his work with the AED, he was able to meet Aaron Burke, who facilitated his move to Pensacola, FL, where he received his Associates Degree in Business at the University of West Florida. In 2018, he married the love of his life, Amanda, in San Antonio, Texas. While there, he began his business, Havenwood Crafts, pursuing his passion in becoming a skilled craftsman.
Amila loved traveling and camping throughout the country, enjoying the great outdoors. He took great joy in being a wonderful uncle to all of his nieces and nephews in the US, Honduras, and Sri Lanka.
Amila was best defined by his love for God and his love for every person that he met. His greatest desire was to lead others to his loving Savior. Even while sick with Covid, he wanted to spend the rest of his life becoming closer to the Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda, whom he loved and cherished dearly and his parents, brother, and sister in Sri Lanka.
Amila loved others well and is now spending eternity with the One who loves perfectly.
Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the American Education Development, which serves the people of Asia and was a ministry very near and dear to Amila’s heart. AED’s main emphasis is helping people afflicted with leprosy and training local community leaders in Sri Lanka and throughout Asia.
