Amber Lynn Mathieu, age 42, of St. Charles, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva.

She was born January 24, 1979, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Phillip and Pamela (Cole) Mathieu.

Amber was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be remembered as somebody who went through so many rough times in her life, but she got up, and continued to fight through every struggle. She had a very sweet, and humorous personality, and she put a smile on everyone’s face. She was a very caring, and loving soul who loved to help others. She loved horror movies, laying out in the sun, hanging out with friends, and family, and barbecuing. She had a strong obsession with the Rocky movies, Taco Bell, collecting stuffed animals, and blankets. She loved playing practical jokes, listening to Country music, and getting her nails done. She loved wearing jewelry, going shopping, making crafts, and gardening. She loved her daughter so much, and cherished every moment they had together.

“The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you!” ~Rocky Balboa

She is survived by her daughter Alana Mathieu of St. Charles; parents Phillip and Pamela of St. Charles; and siblings Phillip (Candice) Mathieu II of Elgin and Christine (Scott Slarich) Mathieu of St. Charles; and many other dear relatives and friends.

Amber was preceded in death by her grandparents, and Alana’s father Steve McCormack.
