Amber Gail McClain was born August 24, 1940, in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of Earl H. and Ruth (Rogers) Brundage. In 1943, Ruth and Amber moved to Iowa, where Ruth met and eventually married Howard H. Scott. Amber grew up in the Colfax area, and graduated from Colfax High School in 1958. After High School she was employed at Bankers Life in Des Moines. She was United in marriage to Larry McClain on February 13, 1960 in Orient, Iowa. To this union 3 children were born: Jerry, Patrick, and Jodie. In 1960, they moved to Adair. During the early years of their marriage Amber was a homemaker raising the 3 children. In 1977, she became a school bus driver for Adair-Casey Schools and eventually retired after 27 years.
Amber enjoyed many years of camping with family and friends at Swan Lake and Littlefield parks. Whether it was hot tea in the morning or sometimes a cold one later in the afternoon, she always enjoyed socializing with her many friends in Adair. She spent many hours in her spare time completing word search puzzles and reading.
