Our angel and daughter, Amber Irene Brotherson, aged 34 years, went to heaven August 21, 2017, and our world is a smaller, darker and sadder place because of our loss. Her peaceful passing eclipsed the eclipse. We guess she didn’t want us to forget her. But we know that she is with her brother, Josh, her grandmothers, Mimi and Irene, and sister-in-law, Nikki, and a grandfather and several cousins, that she never got to meet in this life, but they all love her. She leaves behind her older brother, Jeff and family, her older sister, Elizabeth and family, elder brother, Adam and his children, her middle brother, Joshua’s inherited and born children, plus her baby brother, Sebastian, aunts, uncles, parents (Bill and Denise) and grandparents.
She went Home happily with a love for her Savior and her Father in Heaven. She was led to that love by a wonderful woman and family who gave her 29 years of warmth, protection, guidance and appreciation. Margaret taught her to be a polite young lady with respect for herself and others. A quote that was shared with us goes like this, “I am not disabled, I am differently abled.” That was the gift given to Amber by the second mom she was blessed with. When she first went to Margaret she acted like a child because she was a child, and when she left her group home for the final time, she acted like a woman grown with the heart of a child. The people she has been blessed to share her life with have given her many different gifts but she gave back freely her joy and love for all of us.
Our lives will never be the same because she is irreplaceable. Each life is a precious gift and when returned to Heavenly Father, we are richer for the time and life spent, but poorer for that loss. We look forward to the day when we can be reunited with all those that left us behind. It seems that as we get older, and we lose more family and friends, that our minds drift more towards those who have gone home. We will miss her smile and big heart which are so much a part of someone with Down’s Syndrome. She touched so many lives and hearts and always left each better for the experience. Now she has laid down her mortal body to go live with the other angels, perfect and not limited by earthly limitations. Enjoy your new life, Amber, and know that we will see you soon..!!!!
