Amanda Marie Ginther sustained fatal injuries in a motorcycle accident and passed away on July 11, 2014. Born on Oct. 15, 1985, she was 28 years old. The accident that caused her tragic and untimely death was caused by a driver who was texting while driving. Following her 2004 graduation from Davidson High School in Hilliard, Ohio, Mandy held a variety of jobs, but her favorite ones were in the area of health and fitness. She was actively pursuing a degree in exercise science, and was excited to be on the verge of gaining certification to instuct Bikram Yoga. The oldest of six children, Mandy was a sweet, responsible, loving and nurturing stand-in parent to her siblings when her mother was away, serving her country with the United States Air Force, both at home and abroad. An enthusiastic lover of nature and the outdoors, last December, Mandy was able to fulfill her dream of locating to Salt Lake City where she wholeheartedly embraced life, enjoying the scenic beauty, sporting activities and friendships her new home had to offer. She had exciting plans for the future as well, and had already purchased a ticket for a February 2015 adventure in Thailand where she had planned to do mission work. Loved ones who have preceded Mandy in death include her maternal great-grandparents, Betty and Bill Welch, her paternal grandfather, Charles Ginther, her maternal uncle Randy DeMatteis as well as a step-sibling, Jaiden Dixon. She is survived by her parents, Captain Jill Dixon, USAF and Mark Ginther, as well as her darling rescue dogs, Bailey and Boss, who were truly like children to her. Surviving siblings include brothers, Chad (Tanya) and Shawn Lowe, Jacob Yates, twin sisters Alayna & Brianna Dixon, Nicole Conway, Devan and Jacob Ginther, and Anthony and Alexa Dixon. Grandparents who have survived Mandy include Sherry Guthrie, Ernest “Butch” (Patti) DeMatteis and Isabel Ginther. Surviving aunts and uncles include Timothy DeMatteis, Khristy (Andy) Ryan, Debbie (Tom) and David DeMatteis, Helen (Mike) Fagan, Chuck and Clay Ginther; niece, Nya and nephew, Anthony. Her stunning physical beauty was enhanced by her beautiful heart and spirit, her compassion for others, and her zest for living. As her Mother whispered to her in her final hours and moments, Mandy was “too beautiful, too special, and too good” to remain in this world. Mandy touched everyone who had the privilege to know her, and her loss has stunned and devastated her immediate and extended family as well as her many, many friends. She will always be remembered with great love. Her loving gift of life lives on in others through organ donation.
