Amalia R. Aguilar, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Harlingen Medical Center surrounded by the love of her children. She was born September 13, 1943, in Puerta del Rio, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She is the daughter of the late Jose Cortez and Cirilda Rodriguez and was one of seven children. Amalia had been a resident of Harlingen for the past 37 years. She was the wife of a minister for 55 years. Together with her husband, Gonzalo they both ministered at their church Iglesia de Dios on West Buchanan Street in Harlingen. Amalia was a woman of faith and dedicated her life to serving to Lord. She loved to read her Bible and sing praises to the Lord daily. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to everyone.
She is survived and her beautiful memory will be cherished by her devoted husband, Rev. Gonzalo Aguilar, six children, Agapito Martinez (Olga), Esperanza Ruiz (Antonio Raudales), Graciela Martinez (Mario Talavera), Gonzalo Aguilar Jr. (Trinidad), Olga Talavera (Edmundo), and Daniel Aguilar (Joanna), 36 Grandchildren, 34 Great-Grandchildren, one sister, Maria Cavazos Ruiz. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents Jose and Cirilda, a son, Jose Feliciano Aguilar, four brothers and one sister, and two great-grandchildren (Eli and Abrian).
