Amado Roland Lopez died peacefully at his home on August 9, 2015 in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 78.
Roland is survived by his two children, Rocky and Cindy; his sister, Lugie, his brothers, Norman, Nick, and Jerry. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Jo, and a son, Timothy Joe; and his sisters, Virginia, Mary, Peme and Dora. Roland is also survived by his companion, Mary Sue Draper; her three children, Jeff (Lahoma), Janet (Mike), and Kathy (Brad); nine grandchildren, Dena, Mindy, Jordan, Eric, Taner, Jenny, Marcus, Ronnie, and Cole; and two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Jackson. Roland will always be remembered as a kind and gentle man to all who knew him.
Roland was born on October 13, 1936 in Penasco, New Mexico, to Anicasio Lopez and Matilde Gonzalez. The family then moved to Craig, CO where he grew up and graduated high school. Roland later moved to Albuquerque, NM where he spent several years, before moving to Grand Junction, CO. Roland had a long career at the Kmart store in Grand Junction, which lasted from December 22, 1983, until he retired on March 25, 2004.
