Alvira Braesch, 91, of Milford, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the Milford Assisted Living in Milford, Iowa.

Alvira Jean Wenck Braesch was born in Glidden, Iowa to Daniel J. and Katherine Wenck on October 22, 1926. She attended school in Sioux Rapids, Iowa and graduated with the class of 1943. Alvira was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, Iowa and married Arvid O. Braesch of Albert City, Iowa on August 15, 1943. After her marriage to Arvid, they became members of St. John Lutheran Church of Albert City where she was still an active member.

Alvira and Arvid spent 40 years farming in rural Albert City where they were blessed with 6 children – Thomas, Terry, Carol, Nancy, Steven and Robert. She was a housewife who raised an active family, baked, helped on the farm, and stayed active in the St John Church choir and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, family fishing trips, getting together with family and friends, and traveling. In 1986 Alvira and Arvid retired and moved to Albert City where she stayed active by helping neighbors and friends with errands, providing transportation to doctor and other appointments, bookkeeping and socializing with a large group of friends.

Alvira was preceded in death by husband Arvid Braesch and son Robert Braesch, parents Daniel and Katherine Wenck, sister Rena Waters, sister Helen Wagscel, brother Archie Westbrook, sister Marjorie Gunnerson, brother Daniel Wenck Jr., and brother Kenneth Wenck,

Alvira is survived by her children Tom and Karen Braesch of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Terry and Kathy Braesch of St. Augustine, Florida, Carol and Tom Parks of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Nancy and Nick Ackerman of Storm Lake, Iowa, Steve and Letha Braesch of Arlington, Virginia, and Becky Braesch of Laurens, Iowa. Alvira is also survived by her sister Darlene Caskey of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
