Alvinza Fred Schofell, 83, of Valley, AL passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL. He was born on October 4, 1939 in New York. He married Eldora Milner in 1965 on October 21st and had 46 years of loving marriage.
Together they lived in Hawaii, Germany, and Japan during Al’s time in the U. S. Army. After 20 years of service, he took pride in retiring as an U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (E-6 rank). After retiring, he spent his time driving school buses for Chambers County, teaching high school students about the Vietnam War, and competing in fishing tournaments. He was a proud Christian but could party with the best of us.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie Pearl Disko-Schofell, Jake Lawrence (stepson), Lindsey Dunlap (step-daughter), Ethan Lawrence (step- grandson) , Roman Lawrence (step- grandson), John Emfinger (brother- in-law), Bruce Emfinger (nephew) and his wife Ellen Emfinger and their two kids, Ansley and John, and his dog, Dakota. He was predeceased by his first wife, Eldora and his other dog, Abel.
