ALVINO B. LUERA, 83, a lifelong resident of Deming passed away at his home Tuesday December 22, 2015.

Alvino was born March 1, 1932 in Sherman, New Mexico to Miguel and Margarita (Chavez) Luera. He was self employed doing yard maintenance in the Deming area and is mostly remembered by his musical talents that he had at a very young age. He and his brothers formed “Los Lueras” and played at many events in Grant and Luna County. In his spare time Alvino could be found building various things out of things he had around the house. He enjoyed his family and was known to be called “Grandpa Vino” by many children whether related or not and is also remembered as a great father in law.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Baca (Eloy), Patty Mendoza (Hector) all of Deming; his sister, Paula Serna of Deming; 8 grandchildren, Sandy Whitlock, Victoria Hernandez, Raymond Miranda, Kathy Luera, Michael Baca, Kristie Baca, Hector Mendoza Jr., and Tony Mendoza; and numerous great grandchildren.

Alvino was preceded in death by his wife Frances, 2 sons, Alvino and Ramon, 1 great grandson Peter Fox, and by his brothers, Manuel and David Luera, Miguel Chavez, and Baltazar Chavez.
