Alvina Kenne, age 89, of Algona, Iowa died on Sunday October 11, 2015 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona.

Alvina, daughter of John B. and Susie (Meyerhofer) Freilinger, was born on August 29, 1926, on the family farm near St. Joseph, Iowa. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1944. Alvina married Irvin Kenne on June 3, 1953, and together they farmed near West Bend, Iowa, until moving to Algona. Alvina’s greatest joy was her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed baking, gardening, fishing, and playing cards with her friends. Alvina also enjoyed quilting, making wedding quilts, baby quilts, and college quilts for her children and grandchildren. Recently she was busy making doll quilts for the Trinity Lutheran Church mission group. Survivors include her husband, Irvin, of Algona; six children, Diane (Kevin) Casey, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, Donna (Ron) Fuchsen, of Marshalltown, Iowa, Dale (Lynnette) Kenne, of Coralville, Iowa, Doris (Tom) Junck, of Sioux City, Iowa, Danette (Patrick) Benoit, of Urbandale, Iowa, and Darlene (Joe) Behr, of Mason City, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sr. Virginia Freilinger OSF; two brothers, Walter and Alfred Freilinger; a son-in-law, Kip Watts; and a granddaughter, Kathleen Casey. In lieu of flowers an Alvina M. Kenne Memorial Fund has been established.
