Alvin P. Rush, 81, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, at Valley View Health Care Center, Elkhart.
He was born Nov. 27, 1930, to Jessie B. and Pearl (Smith) Rush in Elkhart.
On June 12, 1976, he married Mazie Irene (Richards) Rush in Elkhart. She passed away Dec. 11, 2007.
Survivors include a brother, Hugh Rush of Elkhart, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Milton Rush, and a sister, Mary Jane DeJong.
Alvin was a 1953 graduate of Purdue University, where he received an agriculture engineering degree. He served in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant from 1953 until 1955.
In addition to spending several years in the agricultural industry, Alvin was employed by Bendix Corporation and Eaton Technologies. He and his brother Hugh co-owned and operated Strato-Tower Service for many years.
