SALEM – Alvin L. Lutz, 82, of Salem, passed away on June 23, 2022 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born August 10,1939 in Jackson Township, Stark County, son of the late Mahlon and Marie (Lindenberger) Lutz.

Alvin graduated from Jackson High School in 1958. He retired from United Parcel Service (UPS) in 1999.  Alvin was the owner/operator of Chipmunk’s Small Engine Repair where he enjoyed working on small engines. He loved and cherished time with his family, golfing, doing yard work, dancing, helping out at the church and driving the church bus. He was a member of the Damascus Ruritan Club and United Commercial Travelers (UCT) Alliance 261. He was also a member of the Damascus Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna (Denny) Lutz, of 32 years; he was a loving father to Mike (Amy) Lutz, Monica (Doug) Snyder, Mark Lutz, Michelle (Chad) Stoffer, and John (Stacy) Mercer; 19 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Donna Crandall of Louisville; brother, Larry Lutz of Canton, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Alvin was also preceded in death by his brothers, Glen and Dick Lutz and sisters, Ellen Miller and Marion Nist.

Friends and family will be received from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2022, at Stark Memorial and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Damascus United Methodist Church in Damascus.
