Alvin George Irby went to he with his Lord and Savior, April 7, 2018 at the age of 75.
Alvin would like you to know that his work here is done. He received a call he could not refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. The assignment comes with a huge sign-up bonus and a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. The job security is exactly 110%.
His new mission takes him to a place where he will be socializing, telling his stories about Bigfoot and playing with his kitties and beloved dogs, painting landscapes and gardening. To a place where the food is delicious, and you never gain an ounce.
Alvin was born in Cambridge, Idaho on July 24, 1942 to George and Edith (Toots) Irby. Alvin lived in Cambridge until he was 7 years old when he and his parents moved to Orofino, Idaho where sister Bonnie Jean and sister Shannon joined the family. He attended school in Orofino until 1959 when he met and married Donna Lee Dickson in December of 1959. Alvin and Donna had three children together- Shelly, Susan and Carl. They later divorced.
Alvin joined the U.S. Army in 1960 during the Vietnam War. He was discharged in 1968. He then went to work in the Ahsahka Plainer Mill until in 1970 when he moved to Emmett, Idaho where he worked at the Boise Cascade Mill in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho retiring in 1998.
He met and married his loving wife Diane in October 2001. He gained three bonus children, Tina, Karen and Tom. He became an ordained pastor in April 2012 He was proud to call himself “Pastor Al”. he had the honor of marrying Tina and her husband Kurt.
Shelly was a daddy’s girl and even though they were at odds more often than not she loved him with all her heart. Alvin loved to go fishing and tried to teach Susan how to fish, but no matter where they went she got her line tangled. Through his love of hunting, Alvin taught son Carl how to hunt and was so proud the day Carl shot an atypical 8-point buck. He taught each of his grandchildren to fish and enjoyed every minute of it. He loved his family fiercely and they loved him.
He will be greeted in Heaven by his parents George and Edith, his sister Bonnie Jean and his mother and father-in-law who both thought the world of him.
