Alvie Leroy “Nook” Weller, age 88, of Union Bridge, MD died on Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born June 10, 1921 in Bark Hill, Maryland, he was one of twelve children of the late Ray Edward and Fannie Belle (Rowe) Weller.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (Buffington) Weller.
He was an active member of the Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren in Union Bridge. He was one of the 1st students to attend classes at the original Elmer Wolfe School in Union Bridge. He was a lifelong dairy farmer in the Union Bridge area. Over the years he drove a milk truck, worked for a time at Lehigh Cement, and was a self-employed Carroll County School Bus driver contractor.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children and spouses, John “Jack” Weller and wife Pat of Emmitsburg, James Weller and wife Dawn of Union Bridge, Jay Weller and wife Melissa of Union Bridge, Jeanne Watkins and husband Steve of Littlestown, PA; grandchildren, Kim Burrier, Mike Catania, Matt, Adam, Amber, Brady, and Marina Weller, Tasha Himes, Sam and Molly Watkins; great-grandchildren, Evan and Rylan Catania; sisters, Betty Fritz of New Windsor, Ruth Grayson, Jeannette Koontz, and Loretta Heltibridle all of Westminster; a brother-in-law, Merle Shorb of Westminster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, John, Kemp, and Robert Weller, and by sisters, Evelyn Cherry, Pauline Everhart, and Reba Shorb.
