Alvera C. Luettig, age 95 of Freeport, IL, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2018 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport.

She was born December 19, 1922; the daughter of the late Albert and Joanna (Schnee) Brick. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1941.

Alvera married Donald E. Luettig on April 19, 1947; he passed on December 5, 2002. She had worked at Micro Switch during WWII and was a secretary at Douglas School. She was a member of Embury United Methodist Church of Freeport where she had also served as secretary. Her memberships also included the Stephenson County Historical Society, Stephenson County Genealogical Society, and was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She also volunteered at Frances Woodhouse History Room at the Freeport Public Library for over 30 years. She enjoyed family and Freeport History and she loved going to auction sales.

Alvera is survived by her daughter, Karen (John) Fyock of Freeport; grandchildren, Angela (Tim) Shaw of Edgerton, WI, Christy (Corey) Kuntzelman of German Valley, IL, and Kathy (Nick) Snyder of Janesville, WI; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Donna Mae Stewart of Pearl City, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; infant daughter, Mary Ellen Luettig; infant brother; and niece, Marcene Becker.
