Born in Lyons, Georgia, Mr. Stewart and his late wife Mary, came to this area from Orlando in 1981. He served in the US Navy during WWII, was a member of the Carpenters Union for 65 years, and enjoyed fishing. Highly involved in square dancing for over 50 years, Mr. Stewart was inducted into the Square Dancers Hall of Fame.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie L. and her husband John Causey of Loris, South Carolina; a son, Richard and his wife Shirley Stewart of Benton, Mississippi; a stepson John and his wife Wendy McDonald, of Jacksonville; 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
