Al lived in Middletown all of his life attending Middletown High School and the University of Connecticut. He joined the U. S. Army and traveled to Japan. In his younger years, Al worked for the Middletown Fire Department and Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Middletown retiring after years as a fireman and millwright. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and playing on the Pratt and Whitney baseball team. He was an avid Red Sox fan who spent time bicycle riding in Florida with younger brother, Ray, playing cribbage with adversary, Fred Taylor, and cards with Dick Kreh. His favorite times were spent going on safaris and telling “little shaver” stories to his grandchildren, Maelynn, Chadam, Gabrielle, Amelia, and Brendon.
