Alton Donald Busey, age 85, passed away in the late hours on Thursday, February 25, 2022, at Fannin Reginal Hospital, in Blue Ridge, GA. Don, as he was known by friends and family, was born on January 11, 1937, in East Atlanta, GA to the late William “King” and Mattie Busey of Jonesboro, GA. Along with his parents, Don is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Busey, daughter, Rebecca Ann Dotson and his brother, William M. Busey. He is survived by his children, Donna Tyree of Rex, GA, Wanda Simmons of Kiln, MS, Ginger (John) Walker of Mineral Bluff, GA, Cathy (Mike) Finnell of Mineola, TX, Sherry (Mike) Johnson of Kingston, TN, and a long list of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Don was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and an accomplished pilot. While he made a career as a private business owner, he enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests. Don was an equine enthusiast, bird watcher, wood worker and sports fan, “GO DAWGS”. He also found great pleasure in gardening, putting puzzles together and spending time with his family and friends.
