Alton “Butch” D. Cochran, 63 a life-long resident of Polk County, died March 8, 2011 due to respiratory failure. Butch was born August 1, 1947 in Bartow to Vernon Lee and Lilla (Scott) Cochran, Sr. who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Francis L. Cochran. Butch was employed with Goodwill Industries for many years and will always be remembered as a kind and loving man who “never met a stranger”. He is survived by his sisters, Betty Geiger of Connersville, FL and Nell Herring and Carl of Kathleen; his brothers, Gene (Jo) Cochran of Jonesboro, GA, Gerald (Gloria) Cochran of Ft. Meade and Vernon (Sherry) Cochran, Jr. of Lakeland. He is also survived by his seventeen nieces and nephews, numerous grand and great-grandnieces and nephews and his caregivers, Gail (Ronnie) Ingraham of Auburndale.
