Alta Norton Cribb met her Lord Jesus Christ face to face on Monday, July 16, 2018.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Conley C. Cribb as well as seven of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Clayton and husband Boyd Clayton of Johnston County, her son, Randy Cribb and wife Vickie Cribb of Raleigh, her brother, Cecil Norton of Knightdale and brother Jimmy Norton, wife Margaret of Roseboro, NC.
Alta spent many years as a minister’s wife. She was known for her gift of hospitality. The door of the parsonage was also open to family, friends and church members. Two of her brothers lived in the Cribb home between career changes and were introduced to their future brides from the church family! She was always a favorite minister’s wife.
After the death of Rev. Cribb, she and her daughter-in-law, Vickie, went into business together. She retired in 1998 and continued to live in her home in north Raleigh until 2015. In December of that year she went to live with her daughter, Brenda. In March, 2018 she was placed in Oak Hill Living Center where they took wonderful care of her. Smiling one day, she said, “I’m all tied up. Now I’m just waiting for the bow!”
Alta loved children and it was her continuing desire to support St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Anyone wishing to make a memorial gift is asked to make it to St. Jude, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Sing the Hallelujah Chorus! She’s home at last and forevermore!
