On Saturday, May 28, 2016, Alphonse J. Wilk, 96, entered eternal life at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain with his loving family at his side. Born in New Britain on November 22, 1919, he was the son of the late Joseph & Mary (Barszcz). He served our great country in the United States Army during WWII and held membership with the Catholic War Veterans. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years in various capacities with Stanley Works. His family was one of his greatest passions, from watching his grandsons compete athletically to lending a helping hand to anyone that needed it, he was always there. His faith was of great importance to him as well, having been a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church where he actively volunteered and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Left to cherish and honor his memory are his beloved wife of 72 years, Florence (Dabkowski) Wilk, his daughters, Christine Francalangia and her husband Tony of Kensington, Geri Tessitore and her husband Antonio of Orange, a sister Clara Bighinati of New Britain, his five grandsons, Michael Francalangia and his wife Barbara-Jean, David Francalangia and his wife Janis, James Francalangia, Joseph Tessitore and his wife Dr. Jeanna Auriemma, and Jason Tessitore, and three great grandchildren, Grace, Joseph, & Thomas Francalangia. He was predeceased by his brothers Henry, Zigmund, John & Raymond.
