Aloysia Simone Mayerl (February 4, 1938 – November 25, 2022) is lovingly remembered by all for her smile, insight and caring. She lived life courageously and helped others as a teacher even in the face of health challenges throughout most of her life. She loved the beach, mountains, and skiing.
Aloysia is preceded in death by her father Josef Mayerl, her mother Annemarie Stamer, her sister Hilde Giermann, and brother Maxim (Heidrun) Bischof.
Aloysia is survived by her sister Marianne (Karl) Mayerl-Luck, her brother Rolf Bischof, her son Thomas (Katherine) McGimpsey, and her grandsons Scott (Amanda) McGimpsey and Steven McGimpsey.
Aloysia grew up in Fischen, Germany near the border of Austria. She came to the U.S. with her son Thomas in 1964 and lived in Texas, Florida and later in Colorado. Aloysia worked in interior design and in the construction industry in Florida in the 1970s. After raising her son, Aloysia went back to school and graduated with an Associate of Arts from Broward Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Social Psychology from Florida Atlantic University and attended Barry University’s Master’s program in Social Psychology. Aloysia became an elementary and middle school teacher in Florida and then Colorado, and later retired in Colorado near her son’s family. Although limited due to health issues, when she could, she enjoyed being outdoors at the beach, the mountains, gardening, walking and being with family and friends. She will be missed dearly but will always be remembered in our hearts.
