Almira died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Community Pride Care Center, Battle Creek.
Almira was born September 19, 1917 at Norfolk, the daughter of Louis and Augusta (Preusker) Rodekohr. Almira was baptized October 7, 1917 by Pastor Hoffman and confirmed 1931 by Pastor Scheef at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1935. She was a graduate of Lincoln General Hospital where she received a degree as a Registered Nurse in 1939. She was employed as a nurse until her engagement to Arland Freudenburg.
She married Arland Freudenburg March 24, 1940 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. They lived on farm east of Battle Creek. Almira was a homemaker while the children were young and then worked for Dr. Hunt and Dr. Wade for 20 years as a dental assistant.
Almira belonged to St. John’s Ladies Aide for many years. She was a volunteer at the Lutheran Hospital in Norfolk also was a Reading Grandparent at St. John’s Lutheran School.
She is survived by three children, son Roger (Bonnie) Freudenburg of Norfolk, two daughters, Jane (Ernie) Hall of Fremont, and Susan (Lyndon) Bierman of Battle Creek; nine grandchildren and 16 great-
grandchildren, one sister, Ruth Dickmeyer of Battle Creek, and two sister-in-laws, Addie Scheve of Norfolk and Thelma Rodekohr of Athens, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arland in 1985, one brother Melvin Rodekohr, and two brothers-in-laws Herb Dickmeyer and Alvin Scheve, and one great-grandchild, Tessa Marie McKeown.
