One of the world’s most precious diamonds, Royal Queen, and Brilliant Stone. Yes, it can really go on and on, as that’s just the diva we know.
Alma Ruth has born on Sunday, October 16, 1949, to Gladys Washington, and Sylvester Brown, Sr., in Shreveport, Louisiana. Alma was the oldest of 10 children. Alma attended Eighty-First Street
Elementary School and Carver High School, both in Louisiana.
She confessed Christ very young while living in Oakland, California.
As a teenager she traveled the world which led her to Chicago where she met Marshall Hinton and to this union 3 amazing girls, Michelle, Kimberly, and Marcia, were born. Alma loved her girls. She got a waitressing job to continue spoiling “Alma’s Angels” as she called them.
Alma went on to get her CNA Certificate and became a private CNA to many clients. In 1985, she met and began dating William Hawkins, Jr. They later got married on Valentine’s Day in 2001.
On July 24, 2022, at 8:10 p.m., our Gem Alma transitioned home. She was truly a Diamond in our hearts.
In heaven, Alma will join her mother; father; grandparents; three brothers, Sylvester Brown, Jr., Melvin Brown (Tonia), and Calvin Brown; oldest daughter, Michelle Dishmon (Sidney); and oldest grandson, Jesus Smith, who all preceded her in death.
Alma leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband, William Hawkins, Jr.; 2/3 of “Alma’s Angels,” Kimberly Montague (Lydell), and Marcia Smith; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Sharice, Alece, Andre, Anton, Bria, and Gabriell (Trency); 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Leonard Ray Brown (Cheryl); five sisters, Patricia (Ronnie), Gladys, Carolyn, Cynthia, and Glenda; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
