Alma Marie (Shald) Sandall was born on April 23, 1941, in Stuart, Holt County, Nebraska, to Frank Russell and Ellen Louise (Turner) Shald. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Rock County High School in Bassett, Nebraska in 1959.
On July 1, 1961, Alma was united in marriage with John C. “Cal” Sandall in Bassett, NE. The couple made their home in Bassett, Norfolk and then moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa in 2002. Cal preceded her in death on April 30, 2002.
Alma worked as a nurse’s aide and then as the Administrator at the Rock County Hospital in Bassett for 17 plus years and then for Supertel Hospitality in Norfolk for 13 years.
Alma passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Rotary Senior Living, at the age of 79 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Shald and sisters, Mildred Taylor, Lucy McDaniel and Bernice Lingenfelter.
She is survived by her three daughters: Laurie Sandall and husband Dave Barker of Columbus, OH, Kathleen Ockinga and husband Doug of Kearney, NE and Elaine Schope and husband Wayne of Eagle Grove, IA and four grandchildren: Naomi and Danielle Barker and Graeham and Wayne III Schope.
