Alma Arleen Ridgley was born on May 26, 1928 to Bertha Hackett and Richard King. She was called home on Sunday, July 19, 2020 and joined her late husband William and her daughter Toni. Alma’s precious life will be remembered by her sons, Raymond, Kervin and Terry; two sisters Florence and Dorothy (Dottie) and host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, goddaughter and a loving church, family and friends.
Alma attended Sellman Elementary School and continued her education at Lincoln High School in Rockville, Maryland, where she graduated in 1946. It was there she met her late husband William. Alma also attended Cortex Peters Business School and graduated in 1948. After graduation, Alma went to work for Montgomery County Public Schools until she retired in 1990.
Alma started her journey with the Lord at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Dickerson, Maryland. After her marriage, she joined William at Pleasant View Methodist Episcopal Church in Darnestown, Maryland and later helped found Fairhaven United Methodist Church in Darnestown, Maryland. Alma’s faith lead her to be a Sunday School Teacher, Chairperson of Peace and Religion, Communion Stewart, Gospel Choir Member, Pleasant View Historical Society Trustee and a faithful member of the United Methodist Women.
