Allison Holt O’Malley, age 69, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2022, at her home with her husband, Robert and stepdaughter, Kate after a yearlong battle with cancer. Allison was born on May 31st, 1953, to Stanley and Ruth “Tommy” Smith in Syracuse, New York. In her youth, Allison lived in several cities including Syracuse New York, Slidell, Louisiana, and Louisville Kentucky. After high school Allison earned a BFA at Miami University in Ohio. A talented artist, Allison used her skills and education in early positions in advertising, as an art dealer and working in the Kentucky Governor’s office. Later she worked at the Philadelphia architecture firm of Ewing Cole for many years. In 2012, Allison and Robert moved to Colorado where she worked in the Office of the President of the University of Colorado until she retired in 2019. In that same year Allison moved with her husband to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

A true outdoors woman and activist Allison enjoyed hiking, snow shoeing, fly fishing, and camping. Allison was an avid reader. In Colorado she was active in Moms Demand Action. She spent the last years of her life in quiet, selfless service to those in need through several local community groups in Philadelphia, Denver, and Albuquerque.

Allison’s bright smile, contagious enthusiasm and can-do attitude were her hallmark traits, and she will forever be remembered for her sunny disposition. She loved helping others and she made a huge impact on those whose lives she touched.

Allison is survived by her husband, Robert; her stepdaughter, Katherine O’Malley (Mason). She is predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Ruth Smith, her sister, Susan Fowler and brother-in-law, James O’Malley. Other survivors include Mark Fowler, brother-in-law; Jane Tessmer (James), Joan O’Malley, sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews Anne Fowler, Haley Fowler Cochran (Jeffrey), Eric Fowler, Margaret Pajek (Chris), Jennifer Tessmer Belizia (Vincent), and Jim Tessmer (Denise). She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Teddy.
