Obituary

Allen L. St.Clair, 85, of Comly Road, Turbotville, entered into eternal rest at 9:00 PM Friday, July 4, 2008 at Maria Hall, Danville, where he had been a patient since May 20, 2008. He had been in ill health for 5 A years after suffering a stroke.

Born September 4, 1922 near Ottawa, he was the son of the late John W. and Blanche Irene (Plotts) St.Clair, and the step-son of the late Earl C. Keiser. He and his truly dedicated wife, the former Ruth I. Rice, were married December 13, 1941 at the parsonage of Trinity United Church of Christ, Turbotville and they have celebrated more than 66 years of marriage.

Allen and his wife were self-employed dairy farmers for over 46 years in the Turbotville area until they sold the cows and became semi-retired up to his illness. He was a member of Dairylea, and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, Milton for more than 50 years. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Turbotville for more than 50 years where he faithfully served on Consistory. Allen enjoyed talking with his neighbors, especially with the people from Schuyler when they would gather in at Carl Bull’s Gas Station. He loved going for long Sunday afternoon rides when gas was affordable. Along with loving his family, he also loved his Ford tractors, of which he had many, right down to his lawn mowers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law and a daughter and son-in-law of Turbotville, John and Barb St.Clair and Mary and Ray Mertz; and two daughters and a son-in-law of Watsontown, Shirley and Ted Menges and Ileen Ranck; a half-brother, Harold Keiser of Watsontown; a half-sister, Harriet Getz of Hughesville; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, soon to be 13, 2 step great-grandsons and 1 step great-great grandson.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were two grandchildren, Michael and Rebecca Menges; two brothers, Sidney St.Clair who just passed away April 29, 2008 , and John St.Clair; two nephews, Keith and Bobby St.Clair; two half-brothers, Cleon Keiser and Clarence St.Clair; a half-sister, Ruth McMichael and a son-in-law who he loved talking farming with, Glen E. Ranck who passed away November 12, 2007.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville with Pastor Amelia Shivers officiating. Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday. The family suggests contributions in his memory be made to either Columbia Montour Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave., Suite 200, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 to benefit the hospice home at Maria Hall, or to Trinity United Church of Christ, PO Box 269, Turbotville, PA 17772.
