Jim was born December 28, 1929, in Hayes Center, Nebraska to Harold R. Lewis and Esther Ella (Scott) Lewis. He attended schools in Nebraska and Colorado. He served in the U.S Navy for 4 years.

Jim married Charlotte Ann Longo on November 6, 1960, in Denver, CO. They were married for 59 years until Charlotte’s death in 2019.

Jim was an accomplished pilot for over 50 years and was co-owner and operator of the Blue Falcons Flying Club. He retired from Gates Rubber Company in 1975 after 25 years, and then became a corporate pilot for Allen Mitchek Feed & Grain. Through the years, he also worked at Industrial Welding, Colt Trailer, North Sterling Marina, and High Plains Co-op. His hobbies were flying, camping, water skiing, and collecting pennies.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte Lewis, father Harold Lewis, mother Esther Christensen, and stepfather Dewey Christensen.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Paula (John) Hettinger and Linda (Rick) Dillenburg; son Scott Lewis, all of Sterling, CO; brother Richard (Gloria) Lewis of Golden, CO.; grandchildren Kelley Koehler, of Sterling, CO Kristy Koehler, (Keenan Williams) of Burlington, CO, Kyle Dillenburg (Samantha) of Sterling, CO, Jenna Dillenburg of Denver, CO, and Jaycie Dillenburg of Lakewood, CO and 9 great grandchildren.
