ALLAN RICHARD TALMADGE, 90, passed away at his home in Crescent City Saturday afternoon September 18, 2021, after an extended illness.

Mr. Talmadge was born in Hobart, Indiana, and came to live in the Crescent City area a number of years ago coming from Indiana. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Korea. He was discharged with the rank of Corporal. After returning home he worked as a Vocational Machine Shop teacher in Richmond, Indiana public school system, retiring after 29 years.

Retirement brought him to his love of sailing and many times he sailed the Great Loop which circumnavigates the entire eastern U.S. and parts of Canada.

Later he purchased his mother’s home in Crescent City. It was one of the early homes in Crescent City built in 1896 and was part of the Crescent City Lumber Company. Singlehandedly he rebuilt that home with a loving hand and a vow to perfection in his work.

Allen was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 4355 in Lake Como, and the Loyal Order of Moose #1641 also of Lake Como.

Allan attended the First Presbyterian Church in Crescent City and Lake Como Community of Hope Church and played the piano for the services at each.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sandra; a son, Carrick Talmadge of Oxford Mississippi, and two daughters, Christine of Arizona and Cynthia of Pennsylvania.
