Allan “Buzz” Arthur Winter, 79, of Freeport, died Friday, March 11, 2016, at FHN Memorial Hospital. Born December 26, 1936 in Thompson Township, Illinois he was the son of Arthur and Josephine (Schutt) Winter. Allan attended all eight grades at “Union” country school, he graduated from Stockton High School in 1954.
On November 28, 1955 he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Southern European Theater Armed Forces in Vincenza, Italy.
He was discharged as a Staff Sgt. on November 28, 1958.He married DeLores Temple June 17, 1972 in Shannon. He started his employment in the parts department at Myers Ford in Freeport on December 1, 1959 and ended his career on October 2, 1998.
Surviving are his wife, DeLores of Freeport; his nieces, Pam (Bob) Yeagle of Freeport and Julie (Denny) Nampel of Juneau, Wisconsin; his nephew, Loren (Tracy) Heidenreich of Elizabeth; his sister-in-law, Dorothy M. Rinderman of Shannon; numerous cousins, his niece in-law, Sherry Heidenreich of Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Beth Heidenreich and Laura Emsoff.
