Alice Virginia Thompson Crittle was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 7, 2022 at 3:17am.
Born February 11, 1928, to the late Joe and Ethel Thompson. She joined Parrish Chapel Baptist Church as a young child. Alice was known to give you the shirt off her back. You could always get a hot meal or a place to stay. She was the most given, loving person you would ever meet. She loved her family, friends, and her Bull beer. When you had a conversation with her, it for sure was mixed with the wisdom of an ancestor, love at its purest and a few choice words that only she could deliver. Indeed, a straight shooter with no filter.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Ethel Thompson, longtime companion Walter Olds, daughters Ronnie Crittle and Berniece Jackson and son Philip Crittle; grandsons Phillip Crittle, Larry and Damoni Sawyer, granddaughters Laquanda “Half Pint” Crittle, Margo Averson and Nenette Banks, brothers Tim, Edgar, Jasper, Billy and Ralph Thompson and sisters Maggie, Katherine, Lizzie Ruth Thompson, Helen Ross, Esther Miles, Judy Pickard, and Lucille Royster.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Glenda Banks of Maryland, Dorothy Sede of Georgia, Lisha Pinnix and Donna Crittle of Burlington, NC and Angel Brown of the home, sons Charles Crittle (Sheryl) of Texas and William Keith Crittle of the home.
Alice loved every one of her 24 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 39 great great grandchildren and her great great great grandchild. She had a bond with everyone but the one she shared with great grandson Diondra Jackson and granddaughters Nicole Jackson, Antoinette “Tiny” Sawyer was special. And to the ones she raised and the ones she saved, her grandsons Damoris and Darion Crittle, Javonte Brown and her granddaughters Marcia, Nicole, Linda, and Gwenn Crittle, the bound was beyond special and it had no end. Whether she was called mama, grandma, Miss Alice, or baby sister, she loved and was loved.
