Alice Sunukjian, 92
Troy – Alice Sunukjian, 92, formerly of Hoosick Street and Beechwood Apartments died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Saucon Valley Manor Hellertown, PA after a long illness.
Born in Marash, Turkey, she was daughter of the late Hagop Sunukjian and Ferida Khoshafian Sunukjian and wife of the late Peter Sunukjian. She had resided in the Troy area most of her life and was a graduate of Troy High School in 1936 and attended Hudson Valley Community College.
Mrs. Sunukjian was homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper at her brother, Sarkis’ market S&S Cash Market in Troy many years ago.
She was a member of the Ilium Literary Club, Troy Women’s Club, Church Women United, board member of Bethesda Home and Board of Trustees of Methodist Farm Sunday School Association. She was also a Past President of School 17 PTA, Brownie leader and a Lay Leader at the Memorial United Methodist Church. Alice loved to play bridge as well as other games with her friends and family. She was devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family, church and Sunday school were very important to her and they loved her dearly and were thankful for her time and devotion.
Survivors include two daughters, Lydia (William) Blankenship of Pittsburgh, PA and Joan (Bruce) Bramfitt, Bethlehem, PA; a son, John (Margaret Ann) Sunukjian, Cary, NC; a sister, Dr. Helen Sunukjian of Chicago; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Rosa and Grace Sunukjian and three brothers, Aram, Avedis and Sarkis Sunukjian.
