Velma “Alice” Herrold, 93, of Owasa, Iowa passed away, April 13, 2021, at her daughters home in Yuma, Arizona.
Velma Alice Shields was born January 19, 1928, to Nelson Bay and Goldie Pearle (Briner) Shields on the home farm in Decatur County, Iowa on May 3, 1945, Alice was united in marriage to Harvey Henry Herrold and to this union five children were born Richard, Patricia, Linda, Robert, and Charles. Alice and Harvey owned Herrold Truck Line, where Alice was an active driver until 1985 and continued on as bookkeeper for her son Robert until 2018. She also worked 25+ years at Eldora Greenhouse.
Alice is survived by her children: Richard (Nancy) Herrold of Fairfax, Iowa, Patricia (Bart) Lyon of Temple, Texas, Linda (Chuck) Nelson of Yuma, Arizona, Robert (Julie) Herrold of Eldora, Iowa, Charles Herrold of White Rock, British Columbia; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother: Joe (Ramadean) Shields, and two sisters: Cleone (Tom) Woughter, Virginia (Stephen) Howard.
Alice is preceded in death by her sister: Betty Wetzler; parents Pearle and Nelson Shields; husband Harvey Herrold; brother Jack Shields; sister Hazel Newton; and brother; Edgar Shields.
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more for the former things have passed away.
