Alice Rowe Arrington was born on May 7, 1921, in Fauquier County, Virginia, to Charles Horace Rowe and Margaret Washington Rowe. Alice, a proud resident of Ridgefield, CT for the past 10 years, died at home on Saturday, October 23, surrounded by her family. She was 100 years young. She lived with her daughter, Sandra Rich, and family. Alice enjoyed an active life, first as a military wife who traveled the world for 23 years, including lengthy stays in Germany, Morocco, the Philippines, and Japan. Her travels included Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Greece, and China. Alice was a remarkable woman. A cancer survivor, she lost her husband in 1977 to pancreatic cancer but never remarried. They had four children.

Alice enjoyed life, especially her family, friends, and dogs, and being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She displayed a strong will, a wicked sense of humor, and an interest in current events, including national politics. Her hobbies and outside interests included crocheting Afghans (in the hundreds), machine knitting, reading newspapers, finding and trying new recipes, and watching action films and sports, especially Michigan State football and basketball games. Her secret to longevity was having an interest in learning new things; working hard; always keeping busy; exercising; eating and sleeping well; and accepting what life had to offer.

Predeceased by her husband, Walter, and their son, Alan, Alice is survived by her children, Sandra Rich, and her husband, Kenneth, of Ridgefield, CT; Sonya Arrington of McLean, VA; and Wayne Arrington, Sr., and his wife, Linda, of Chantilly, VA; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
