Alice Roaine Watson, 88, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2019. She was born August 27, 1931, in Bronx, NY, to the late William and Alice Severance and grew up in Yonkers, NY. In her younger years, Alice studied home economics at Hunter College and worked for New York Telephone as a telephone operator.
Alice later supported her husband as a dental assistant during his air force tour in Guam. Alice was a giver and volunteered at Saints John and Mary Roman Catholic Church for nearly 20 years where she was president of the Lady’s Auxiliary.
Alice enjoyed life and family; she liked being involved in the Cub Scouts where she served as Den Leader, was in a bowling league, and was always looking out for those who are less fortunate. She volunteered for the hospital and ran various clothing and donation drives. She supported her five children in many ways but was known as the scorekeeper for the Seven Bridges Swamp Rats swim team. More recently, after relocating to Florida, she was active in the real estate business.
Alice is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 28 years, Dr. Richard Watson; a brother, William Severance; and a sister, Isabelle Cunnane.
She is survived by five children: Richard A. Watson, Robert G. Watson (Wife Donna Watson), Gerard A. Watson (Wife: Phyllis Watson), Roaine M. Steblai, and Christopher G. Watson (Wife: Mia Watson); six grandchildren Corey, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Madeline, Christian and Samantha; brother, Gerard Severance; sisters, Mary Funicello and Anne Regina Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
