Alice R. McClain Scales, 85, Anderson, died September 11, 2009 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson, Indiana after a brief illness. She was born June 24, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and resided in Anderson, Indiana. Alice retired from Fort Benjamin Harrison in 1990 after 19 years of service. She had previously worked for RCA in Indianapolis and Delco-Remy in Anderson.
She graduated from Purdue University in the 1940’s while enrolled in the drafting and engineering program. She is survived by her children; Joed Judy Stanley of Anderson, Susie Charles Sharrard of Lenoir, NC, Karen Alldredge of Anderson and Judy Cary Fenwick of Anderson. Brother; Edward Mildred McClain of Indianapolis. Grandchildren; Jennifer Stanley-Foster, Shari Chris Sczesny and Andy Fenwick. Greatgrandchildren; Shayne Sczesny, Paige Sczesny, Breanna Sczesny, Zachary Phipps and Chloe Phipps.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Elizabeth and Horace McClain. First husband; Gerald Stanley. Second husband; Floyd Scales. Brothers; Bruce McClain and David McClain. Sisters; Edythe Hagenmaier and Mildred Mech.
