Alice Pearl Martin Bell, a native of Grove Hill and resident of Mt. Vernon, was called to her heavenly home Monday, Sept. 6, 2021 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1946 to Bettie Chapman Martin and Gross Martin. 

Alice was a member of the Wilson Hall High School Class of 1960. A faithful and dedicated member of the Living Church of God Pentecostal in Malcolm, she served in the Women’s Missionary Department, as well as where ever needed within the church. Alice was a very loving, kind and sweet person who loved the Lord and enjoyed reading her Bible and talking about the goodness of the Lord. You could ask her for advice, you may not like her answer, but she was going to tell you the truth whether you liked it or not. 

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Robert Bell; son, Oscar Miller Martin; sister, Clara Mae Pugh; and two brothers, George “Bro” Martin and Willie “Bill” Martin.

Left to cherish her loving memories are three sons, Andre Pugh Sr., Andre Pugh Jr. and Joshua Pugh, all of Mt. Vernon; grandson, Jordan Pugh of Mobile; her sister, Barbara Martin of Montgomery; three brothers, Charlie Joe Presnall of Mobile, Gross Martin Jr. of Grove Hill and Ken Foreman of Birmingham; one aunt, Irma Martin of Gautier, Miss.; daughter-in-law, Avis Martin of Citronelle; four sisters-in-law, devoted Frances “Sue” Bell Rouses, Fannie Abrams, Betty Adams and Irene Benjamin, all of McIntosh; one devoted niece, Clara Martin of Bessemer; devoted great-niece, Shermeka (Chris) Holmes of Bessemer; one special cousin, Mose Chapman of St. Louis, Mo.; two devoted friends, Juanita Barnes of Malcolm and Barbara Niles of Mobile; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and her church family of Living Church of God Pentecostal.
