Danvers-Alice (Akatyszewski) Michaud, 86, passed away on January 1, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 6, 1935, to the late Julius and Zofia (Rogalski) Akatyszewski.
Alice was predeceased by her loving husband Louis, in December of 2001, to whom she shared 45 years of marriage.
She is survived by her four children; Gail (Michaud) Gelin of Epping NH, Barbara (Michaud) Lucier of Barton VT, Michael, and Lou Michaud both of Danvers MA. Three grandchildren; Crystal Gelin, Matthew, and Christina Lucier, and a great-granddaughter, Teagan Brocato.
She was predeceased by her three sisters; Helena (Akatyszewski) Sierzega, Florence (Akatyszewski) Palen, and Chessie Akatyszewski; one brother, Zygmund “Ziggy” Akatyszewski; and one son-in-law, Peter Lucier.
Alice enjoyed her 40 plus year career, working at New England Telephone, beginning right after she graduated from Salem High School. She started out as a telephone operator in Salem, and later transitioned to a more clerical position within the company. After a number of years in Salem, the company moved their operations to Boston, and Alice enjoyed her job so much, that she took on the daily long commute for a number of years. When the company decided to move their operations yet again to Braintree, Alice did not hesitate to follow them, adding even more time on to her daily commute. She was a dedicated employee, and she truly loved working for New England Telephone.
When Alice was not working, she enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with her late husband Louis. After her retirement and her husband’s passing, she kept active by going to Foxwoods with her son, Lou.
Alice will be so dearly missed by her family and friends. It feels like our time on this earth is just too short when we lose our loved ones.
