ALICE BUTTRAM WARNER
1927-2015
Alice Mae Warner, age 88, died June 30, 2015, at Valley View Nursing Home.
Alice was born on April 1, 1927, in Shelton, WA to parents Myron and Hazel Klink. She grew up with her five siblings and graduated from Shelton High School in 1944. In 1945 she married her high school sweetheart Richard Louren Buttram and had four children by that union – Carol, Richard, Karen, and William. During the early years of marriage, they lived in the Grays Harbor area in Washington.
In 1952, Alice and Dick relocated to Boise, ID where they resided until Richard’s death in 1984. They enjoyed 39 years together raising their children and enjoying family activities such as hunting, fishing, and camping in the Idaho mountains. There was nothing more important to Alice than her family. Her grandchildren were a source of true joy and she loved to reminisce about their accomplishments and humorous family events.
In 1990 Alice met and married her second husband, Robert Warner. Bob and Alice were able to spend 20 years together. They were members of the Over 40’s Club and they loved to ballroom dance and square dance. They did crafts and quilting and participated in community charity events. Alice was a talented writer. She compiled a collection of her poetry as well as editorials that were published in The Idaho Statesman. One of their favorite summer activities was to camp and socialize with friends at SISCRA campground. In 2004, Alice and Bob sold their home and resided in assisted living until the time of Robert’s death in 2010.
In the last five years of life, Alice moved on alone. She was thankful she had the opportunity to move back to Washington for a year to spend time with her oldest daughter Carol and granddaughter Kellie and their families. Alice had the courage to fight many physical and mental challenges in her later life. What a comfort that she has gone to her heavenly home where there is no more pain and sorrow.
A special thanks to Valley View Nursing Home and Harrison’s Hope Hospice for their compassion and loving care they gave Alice and her family.
Alice was preceded in death by her son William Forest Buttram. She is survived by her daughter Karen Linder and son-in-law, Glen, of Meridian; her son Richard Buttram Jr. and his wife, Lydia, of Boise; daughter, Carol Altig and son-in-law, Everett, of Sumner, WA; 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
