HAVERHILL – Alice M. (O’Toole) Chase, 88, longtime Haverhill resident, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy journey with Alzheimer’s on Tuesday morning, March 12, 2013 at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Center, Lawrence.
Mrs. Chase was born in Woburn on March 31, 1924. She was the third of six children of William H. and Katherine (English) O’Toole. Raised in Stoneham and graduate of St. Patrick High School, Stoneham.
Loving and supportive spouse of the late, Paul I. Chase, former Mayor of the City of Haverhill, who passed in 2003 after sharing 57 years of marriage.
Moving to Haverhill in 1946, they began to raise their large family. Her activities included, volunteering with the Winnekenni Foundation serving as treasurer, and the Catholic Daughters of America. Mrs. Chase was proud to serve as a Polling Clerk during many elections at the John Greenleaf Whittier School. Longtime member of St. James Parish, Haverhill, and parishioner for years of St.
